The Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation proceeded, this Saturday, February 20, 2020, at the National Museum in Kinshasa, to the presentation of 114 scholarships as part of the Excelentia project initiated by the Distinguished First Lady to support students who excel at the secondary level. The Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation is in constant search of excellence, or better, of a better trained elite in the best universities and in optimal conditions.
During this ceremony, the Minister of Higher and University Education, Thomas Luhaka, urged the fellows to join the permanent search for excellence, contribute to the building of the country and honor the Democratic Republic of Congo wherever they find themselves around the world. He also reassured the sustainability of the Excelentia project by his Ministry.
Speaking in turn, the distinguished First Lady Denise Nyakeru first deplored the very high rate of illiterate girls by referring to the latest UNDP report. Taking into account this worrying fact, she resolved to move away from any conformism to imagine a Democratic Republic of Congo where women are valued and contribute positively to the transformation of society. This is the true synthesis of his fight alongside that against sickle cell disease.
This scholarship program, the result of the partnership with Campus France, is spread over a period of five years with, at the key, 104 local scholarships. For this first edition, only the best winners from the 9 provinces were selected (Greater Katanga, Grand Kivu, Grand Kasai, Grand Equateur, Kongo Central and Kinshasa).
